more on naming
Today we had a doctors appointment for Edie. She's very healthy, gaining an average of an ounce a day for her first two weeks. The most interesting issue so far - I'll stop short of saying "problem" - continues to be her name. The nurse taking Edie's weight and temp mistook her for a boy, thinking she was Eddie-with-one-D Andrew. That was OK, and really we don't mind the mixup - if anything it broke the ice for a nice discussion with the nurse. We're not sure about our pediatrician, however. He kept calling her "he" even during the checkup (sans diaper), and never caught himself doing it, either. He probably still thinks she's a boy. A healthy boy, mind you. And that's the most important thing.

Maybe your pediatrician is genderqueer? ;)
